Spring Auto Show and Family Fun Day
Classic cars to take over the historic Saratoga Spa State Park’s Mall and Reflecting Pool grounds
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (May 9, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced its annual Spring Auto Show being held on Saturday, May 18 (rain date Sunday, May 19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of Saratoga Spa State Park. The show plays a major role in funding the museum’s distracted driving safety programs, vehicle restoration programs and educational exhibits. The Spring Auto Show engages car lovers of all ages with spectators receiving free entry to this year’s event.
As part of this year’s show, there will be a special thematical display of vehicles from the 1960’s. This will enhance the Wheels of Change: Cars and Culture of the Sixties exhibit inside the museum. However, vehicles of all makes and models are welcome to register for the Spring Auto Show.
Pre-registration for display vehicles is $10, and day of registration is $20. All registered vehicles will receive two regular admission tickets to the Museum and all pre-registered vehicles will receive two spectator’s tickets to this year’s 2019 Saratoga Auto Auction happening at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sept. 20 and 21.
“The Museum’s Spring Auto Show is an incredible way to kick off spring here in Saratoga and one of the Museum’s key initiatives to connect with the community. People from all over the Capital Region come to see these vehicles and to be part of this spring tradition,” said Carly Connors, executive director, “We love having hundreds of classic cars in the state park and are excited for this year’s show.”
This year’s Spring Auto Show will also feature the unveiling of the completely restored Hoffman Car Wash and Jiffy Lube 1923 Ford Model TT pickup. This unique Model T variant was restored during the Hoffman Car Wash and Jiffy Lube Restoration Program that occurred from November 2018 to May 2019.
The event offers children ages seven to 14 the opportunity to judge registered automobiles via the Hagerty Youth Judge Program. Youth judges will learn the criteria and guidelines for judging an automobile by experts. The youth judges will have a chance to present an award to the winner. The awards ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m.
Additional fun activities for children will include; family Model T rides, interactive activities provided by Mad Science (Capital District), We Rock the Spectrum — Ballston Spa, The Children’s Museum at Saratoga and local author Vicki Addesso Dodd with Long Shot the Moose from Saratoga Springs Publishing, LLC.
